It should be remembered that Uterine Bleeding may also be the early or major symptom of an indiscriminate bleeding diathesis. The conclusion to estimate a patient depends on the rigorousness and frequency of the abnormal bleeding pattern.
When vaginal bleeding takes place, then it should first be concluded whether the blood is derived from the uterine endometrium. Rectal, bladder, cervical, and vaginal sources of bleeding must not be considered and once bleeding is confirmed to be uterine in origin, pregnancy allied confusion must be ruled out by the physical test and apt laboratory tests. Uterine bleeding that is unbalanced in occurrence, impulsive as to amount and period of flow and generally painless is called dysfunctional or Anovulatory uterine bleeding.
